Roslyn Schembri, Nadya Cachia and Gillian Buttigieg accompanied by Ruth Gatt from FWE attended a three-week training workshop in Marseille as part of the ‘Women’s Media in the EuroMed’ project. The four Maltese girls together with fifteen other women from four different countries around Europe had the opportunity to work with other media professionals on realizing a documentary about the portrayal of women in the media.
The four partner countries of the consortium; Marseille, Malta, Lebanon and Italy were requested to give their input on this subject in the documentary such that both similarities and differences in these European countries were brought out. During their stay in Marseille the girls were given training on how to use the different media resources such as a professional video camera, sound equipment, photo-camera and editing programmes. The girls were able to be behind as well as in front of the camera and had the opportunity to visit a number of exquisite places around Marseille for shooting purposes amongst which were St. Victoire, Arles, and Notre Dome de la Garde.
The foreign women will join the Maltese counterparts in October in Malta for six weeks where they will receive further training at the University of Malta for the completion of the documentary. We wish them the best of luck in this second stage of their adventure and we can’t wait to have them all here with us!
A public launch of the documentary will be held at the University of Malta on the evening of the 10th November. A small reception will be held afterwards. We would like to invite all those interested especially media professionals to book their place by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
